On the last day of May 2017, President Trump issued proclamations naming June as everything from Great Outdoors month to National Homeowners month. Yet he neglected to mention anything about Pride month. This, in addition to feeling as though hate was on the rise, we wanted to find a way to celebrate Pride in our new way. And we went to New York’s most public place to do it.
We created Pride Train to show the world that there are still good people in the world, with a good heart, that care about everything they do. To let them know that they are loved and that, no matter what our current government says, New York has been and will always be a safe space for our differences to be cherished and valued. We believe we accomplished this goal, even if only on a small level. We hope our project showed New Yorkers that there are no travel alternatives to the Pride Train. It’s always moving forward, and always will.
